Dr. M. S. Kanwar is a well known expert and a pioneer in Sleep Medicine in India. He has been working as Senior Consultant Dept of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital New Delhi for the past 20 years. He is Founder of Apollo Sleep Disorder Institute and is also the Director of Advanced Sleep Disorder Institute, New Delhi. He is also currently the H.O.D/Co-ordinator of Invasive Pulmonology which includes Diagnostic and Therapeutic Bronchology, EBUS and Medical Thoracoscopy etc.

Dr Kanwar was the Scientific Chair of 8th National Critical Care Conference CRITICARE 2002 held in the year 2002.He was also the Scientific Co- Chair of 8th National BRONCHOLOGY( BRONCHOCON 2003)
conference held in the year 2003. Dr Kanwar was the Chairman Organizing Committee of SLEEPCON 2013. He will also be the Chairman Organizing Committee of SLEEPCON 2016. Dr Kanwar has been the President of Indian Sleep Disorder Association (ISDA) for the years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016
He was on the Editorial Board of CHEST-INDIA a publication of American College Of Chest Physicians(ACCP)  for Seven years

Dr Kanwar was involved with the group setting up the first Sleep Lab in the Middle-East in the year 1990-1991. Subsequently he received training in Sleep Medicine at Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota, USA. He, then returned to India after 13 years abroad after serving Large University hospitals as Consultant Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care as well as Asst Professor of Medicine since 1986. In the year 1995 he set up a very sophisticated 3 bed Sleep lab at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital which along with the Advanced Sleep Disorder Institute(ASDI) continues as a teaching and training centre for dozens of Sleep Fellows and DNB Respiratory Medicine.

Dr Kanwar, besides his research publications, is very popular as a guide for Thesis to his DNB students. He is also a popular teacher for his Critical Care Fellows, Sleep Fellows and DNB students. He has been a sought after Faculty for various national and Regional conferences in India in the past 20 years. He has been an Invited Guest Faculty in USA twice.

Dr Kanwar continues his passion in the fields of Sleep Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and Invasive Pulmonology as well as challenging Critical Care situations on daily basis. He contributed immensely to the awareness of Physicians and public alike through media and lectures in the earlier years of Sleep Medicine especially years 1995-2000. He will be striving to see that SLEEPCON 2016 is also a resounding success.
